Tatum Contreras

Teacher

Tatum is thrilled to be back in her hometown of Los Angeles to inspire others to connect with the outdoors with Biocitizen. Tatum recently graduated from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania with a major in Environmental Studies and minors in Education and Spanish.

Family camping trips in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and travels in Olympic National Park, the Philippines, and Ecuador helped Tatum discover her love for the outdoors. Tatum is passionate about sharing that love with kids and helping them understand the relationships between humans and the natural world filled with learning opportunities, food, and wonder.

Tatum strives to live by a quote she learned from one of her biggest role-models, her trip leader from a transformative backpacking experience: “Sometimes it’s just our job to fall in love with the world around us”.

When not out in the field exploring LA’s nature scene, you can find Tatum trying out local vegan cuisines, tending to her vegetable garden, and playing with her miniature Schnauzer, Millie.
