Biocitizen welcomes Frieda Lim, new board member!
Biocitizen is delighted to announce that Frieda Lim is a newly seated board member. Frieda lives in NYC with her family in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn, and will be playing a leading role in the setting up of Biocitizen NYC, our sister school scheduled to open Fall 2019. Biocitizen is so lucky to have Frieda on board, because—as she tells us below—she’s been a supporter since the beginning; but what she doesn’t say is also important and interesting. Her husband Kevin McClurkan oversaw the designing of the Cape Horn Research Center with our Omora friends in Sub-Antarctic Chile, and Biocitizen will share an office there to facilitate Now Voyager educational programming and exchanges!
Here, in her own words, Frieda describes her background:
Hi! I’m Frieda Lim, a Brooklyn nutrient-dense sub-irrigated micro-farmer, event planner, consultant, community organizer, marketer, designer, stylist, mother. With Slippery Slope, my experimental micro-farm, I’ve been developing sustainable protocols for growing healthy food on my Gowanus rooftop, tending to my contained “land organism” and observing bio-feedback. Through the years, I have navigated a career exploring joy and interests. Once told by the love of my life, “There are people with a passion and then there are passionate pursuers”. I embrace this edict. Misc (Miscellaneous) Me has melded a myriad of fields from fashion, special events, rooftop farms, school gardens, to pay-it-forward efforts. Personally witnessing the launch of Biocitizen, watching my daughter Blaze come into her own as a Sharpshin, helping Biocitizen connect its environmental dots will be pure joy.
